Tuition is a bargain at twice the price and is the Best $ we ever spent. Our son is a freshman in a competitive private university after graduating FCPS at Tates Creek with great success. He went thru CMS from Pre-K thru 8th grade. When he entered HS he went from a school with 56 students to a freshman class of about 450 kids and he was so well prepared that he did it seamlessly. Our daughter went to CMS from Pre-K thru level 3 and then was selected for the Arts-focused program at SCAPA beginning in 4th grade. She remains at SCAPA, now a Sr. at Lafayette. She too has had great success academically and socially and is applying to multiple competitive fine arts university programs. CMS's curriculum adheres to the AMI format and creates whole child learning fostering independent, well educated, caring citizens. The campus is incredible and the addition of the land curriculum throughout all levels will be a great addition for younger students. You can't go wrong with CMS--please go check it out. Take the tour, observe classes at multiple levels, and just listen while you're there to the learning going on.

We did not have a good experience here. The staff, for the most part, was great. They were very nice to our children, and very communicative to us. The problem was the rigid way the classes were taught. There is no freedom of movement and choice. This is not the way I thought the Montessori method was used. It may work well for some children, but it did not for ours. Although they were nice, they were very inflexible with their approach. The main problem was the teacher. She was young, inexperienced, and did not handle the situation well. Some of the things she did were very concerning, and scared our child. After the experience, our son had so much fear about school, that it took months of work to get him to the point of being able to attend school again at a different institution.We are not alone in this experience. I have talked to two other families that have had almost the exact same interaction with the school. They both said that they feel Montessori method is very rigid, and may work for some children, however it is not for every child. I suggest visiting the school and testing it out before allowing your child to go there.
